Pepsi was originally called "Brad's Drink"
The creator of Pepsi-Cola, a young pharmacist Caleb Bredhem in 1893 for long experimented with different mixtures of ingredients, until he came up with taste that satisfied him. The final combination was soda, sugar, vanilla, rare oils, and coca leaves. Friends and family of Caleb appreciated taste of the drink and he started selling it in pharmacies under the name "Brad's Drink."

In the 1898th Caleb decided to rename his lemonade for something more original and memorable. Acquiring from a competitor a name «Pep Cola» he changed it to «Pepsi Cola». As suggested, with the name "Pepsi", Bredhem wanted to emphasize the property of the drink to help with digestion like the enzyme pepsin, which is involved in the splitting of proteins.
