This phenomenon often occurs in the Southern Hemisphere. Icebergs are 'painted' in a process called "reverse snow," in which the underwater ice crystals float to the surface. Microparticles of marine creatures such as krill, are preserved in these crystals, which subsequently became part of the iceberg.
